Artwork – A material prepared for printing. It refers to photographs, drawings, paintings and printmaking. Authors Alterations– The author makes alteration to the file after the first proof. Back up– It’s a process of printing on the second side of the printed sheet. Banner– Title or large headline expanded across the full page width. Blanket- A rubber sheet used to transfer ink from plate to paper on press. Bleed– Bleed refers to an image which extends beyond the trim edge of sheet or page occurs at head, front and foot of a page. Metallic Ink– It is a kind of printing ink used to produce printings in gold, silver, bronze or metallic colors. Multicolor printing– The term multicolor printing refers to printing an image using more than one ink color. Natural Color– The term used to describe the natural color of paper. Generally, printing paper comes in brown, antique, cream, ivory, off white, mellow white colors. Newsprint– A soft paper made from groundwood pulp and small quantity of chemical pulp to print newspaper. Non-impact Printing– A kind of printing made where printer print without hitting the ribbon on the paper. It is made using lasers, ions, ink jets or heat to transfer images to paper. Offprint– Reprint of information already published in magazine or journal. Offset paper– Offset paper refer to quality uncoated book paper used in offset presses. Offset printing– A process of transferring the inked image from the plate into rubber blanket on the printing surface. Overprinting– It is a kind of printing made on the area already printed. Overprinting is also one of the familiar types of printing made around publishing centers. Postcards– Cards used to represent printed or written information without using envelope. Presentation Folders – A document folder made up of thick papers which protects the content presented in the folder. Posters– Poster is a paper which comes up with printing of events, activities in beautiful text, graphic and design. Resolution Of Images– Resolution of images states the measurement used in typesetting to express the output quality. Reprographics– A term used to refer duplicating printed materials using high speed printers and other kinds of printing presses. R-print– It is a process of making color photographic print from transparency.
