Companies in the production business regularly send out their inventory to clients. Sometimes this is done daily, weekly, or monthly. Whatever the schedule may be, these companies need to have Business Mailers that are appropriate for packaging the product they are mailing locally or exporting overseas.

Oftentimes, the packaging of choice for products is Business Bubble Mailers. This is especially true for fragile and delicate items, but is often needed even for products that are more sturdy but valued, like old books and records. Business Bubble Mailers are flexible yet provide the kind of protection you need for valued inventory, which can often be affected by movement in transit whether by vehicle, in shipments or through air shipment.

Here are some facts about Business Bubble Mailers:

1. Bubble Mailer wrap is very flexible. This is because of its unique construction. The plastic material has evenly spaced, air-filled bubbles that protrude in a semi hemisphere. This allows good guarding for fragile products. Bubble wrap is ideal as a mailer protector because of its flexibility and cushioning.

2. Bubble wrap is varied. Some businesses deal with very delicate items. In such case, multi layering of bubble wraps works best. Other options are thicker width of bubble wrap, which can range from ½ inch to 1 inch or thicker in diameter. There is also anti-static plastic bubble wrap which is useful for very sensitive electronics, because the wrap can dissipate the charges emitted by them.

3. Different uses. Bubble wrap is available in different forms for different uses. For example, items like old coins, books and DVDs can be safely protected in a simple Business Bubble Mailing envelope. Ceramics and other breakable objects can use multi layered bubble wrap, and then be placed in a Business Bubble Envelope. Larger and expensive items like antiques can be covered in bubble paper and then placed in a Business Bubble Box.

4. Bubble wrap rolls. Companies that regularly send their products out nationwide and overseas find it more cost efficient to keep a stock of Bubble wrap rolls in their inventory. For small, breakable items a stock of bubble wrap boxes is their best option.

5. Convenient. Bubble wrap is effective, protective and neater than polystyrene chips. Manufacturers who regularly export their items to several different countries prefer Bubble wrap.

6. Talk to your print supplier. It is advisable that you consult with your print supplier when you are a newbie looking for appropriate wrapping for items that will be mailed out. A good printer can advise you on the kind of wrapping you need for the items you want to send out. Be safe, and talk to your professional printer before making use of Bubble Wraps.
At the same time their value can be raised by making them double as coupons, offering discounts, or other benefits. Continue reading →

Bookmarks are often underestimated as marketing materials, and yet they can accomplish a lot in terms of pushing your company forward at an amazingly low cost. Bookmarks have intrinsic value to a target audience as they are useful in marking pages in a book or notebook. At the same time their value can be raised by making them double as coupons, offering discounts, or other benefits.

Here are some tips on how to make amazing Business Bookmarks:

Brand it. Your Business Bookmark has to match your brand. It has to be consistent with all your print materials including letterhead, business cards and Business Holiday Cards. It should also match the look on your website. Branding involves consistency in colors, fonts, slogans, themes and logos. Branding allows for quick recognition. That’s fundamental to doing business right.

Text. Make your copy straightforward, clear and easy for the receiver to understand. Use the active rather than the passive voice in your copy. Don’t limit copy to company information. You can add value by adding an inspiring quote, or information related to your brand that adds value to your target audience. For example, if your business is cat food, you can include a list of cat health facts. Don’t forget your contact information including your website.

Contour. Play with the shape so that it is unique. Try die cuts or altering the length or width of your Business Bookmark. Make sure however that in playing with the shape, you don’t alter the usefulness of the Business Bookmark to your audience. You can use the shape to reflect your business. For example, if you are in the fruit business, you can make your Business Bookmark into the shape of a cluster of grapes.

Color. Make sure the color reflects your brand. You can include variants of your branding color to make it more interesting. By being consistent with your company colors, you are enhancing brand recall and awareness.

Photos. Let the photo reflect your business. For example, if you are in the furniture business your can use a photo of a fabulous chair. If you are in the t-shirt business you can use a tee with a great graphic on it. What you want is valuable advertising and marketing through your Business Bookmarks.

Paper. There is a wide selection of paper stock and if a certain type of paper reflects your brand well, it is worth consideration. However, the typical width of paper for bookmarks is usually 14 points or 16 points.

Finish. There are many finishes available. Some of them are matte (a subdued finish that is good for writing on), UV (a glossy and shiny finish which is hard to write on but which offers good protection), spot UV (Adding shine to a part of the Business Bookmark where you want to lend emphasis), metallic and others. You can also combine finishes, for example gloss on one side and matte on the other so that you can write on the matte side.

Use. Your Business Bookmark can double as a coupon or discount item. However, include an expiration date if you are offering either of these. Another option is to include a recipe (if you are in the food business) that includes your food product. In this way, your audience may attach it to the refrigerator door.

Printer. Get a rock star printer who has a track record for excellence. A professional printer can advise you on all aspects of your Business Bookmark tapping on knowledge through experience.

Business Holiday Cards are different from holiday cards for family and friends. Even as you are building relationships with your clients through your Business Holiday Cards, you are also in a subtle way marketing your company. Continue reading →

The holidays are a great opportunity to touch base with your existing clients, potential clients, old clients and business associates. A simple holiday card is a great way to connect with your target audience and help to establish long term relationships with existing clients. It also provides a great opportunity to touch base with old clients and remind them that you exist.

Conversely, neglecting to send a Holiday card could be offensive to some of your top clients, and in general, failing to send out Business Holiday Cards is a lost opportunity all around.

Business Holiday Cards are different from holiday cards for family and friends. Even as you are building relationships with your clients through your Business Holiday Cards, you are also in a subtle way marketing your company. At the same time, you don’t want to accidentally offend any of your target audience with your Business Holiday Card.

Here are eight tips to consider when you are sending out your Business Holiday Cards:

1. Keep your market in mind. Some clients may be sensitive to religious messages and could be alienated by your Business Holiday Card. To stay on the safe side, keep the message neutral. Say “Season’s Greetings,” or “Happy Holidays.” However, if you are a church leader and you know your market is religious, you can appropriately say “Merry Christmas,” and have a religious theme.
2. Try Thanksgiving. If you are a new company, you can benefit by sending your Business Holiday Card during Thanksgiving. This is usually the time that people are preparing their shopping lists. You can include a coupon which they will appreciate. At the same time, you can benefit by added holiday sales.
3. Don’t forget New Year’s Cards. The advantage of a New Year Card is that it won’t be drowned out by the flood of Holiday Cards sent in the Christmas season. Yours will stand out and if you make it a calendar, they may use it and in this way, be subtly reminded of your firm every day.
4. Include your brand – subtly. There are ways to tastefully include your brand into your Holiday Card design. You may put your company logo and information at the back of the card. Or, your logo can be a watermark inside the card, along with the message. Another option is to feature a photograph of your staff, perhaps wearing Santa Clause hats, with the logo subtly placed below. If you sell baby clothes, your card could be a fireplace where onesies and other baby wear are hung in place of the traditional Christmas stockings.
5. Don’t forget the staples. Whether it’s Santa, reindeer, Christmas trees or a snowman, a Christmas symbol is totally appropriate. If you don’t want a symbol, you can use the colors or Christmas – red and green.
6. Charity cards. Your target market might appreciate the fact that you are sending charity cards, where a portion of the sales is donated to a charity you are committed to. It is, after all, consistent with the spirit of giving, and it will add more hard to your Business Holiday Cards.
7. Sign it. Oftentimes, it’s little personal touches like these that make a card extra memorable to your clientele. A short handwritten note can go a long way. Even better, you can hand write the address on the envelopes. These will give you a lot more mileage than a generic message.
8. Get a quality printer. Don’t follow business protocol to the letter in your Business Holiday Card design, and then ruin it by poor printing quality. Go to a professional printer with a track record. With an experienced printer, you can access input from their own experience regarding your Business Holiday Card, and be certain that printing quality will be excellent.

Business Club Cards are easier to print today than they ever were before. Furthermore, as marketing materials they are impeccable because they build up regular clientele and avail you of valuable information about your market. This helps you profile your existing market and guides you on how to target similar, but new, clientele.

However, it does not follow that you will immediately get these benefits when you make a Business Club Card. You have to have a plan. You have to know what you want the Club Card to do, and how you would like your target market to use it. Also, your Business Club Card design has to reflect your brand, marketing goals and target market.

Business Club Cards are distributed by sports clubs (golf, karate, boxing, swimming, etc.), night clubs, gyms, shopping clubs, and various local groups and organizations.

For repeat business and a loyal clientele, go into Business Club Cards with your eyes wide open. Two types of Business Club Cards (among many others) are:

· Loyalty cards. The most popular Business Club Cards are Loyalty Cards. With loyalty cards, clients are rewarded through a point system where, as they accumulate points these can translate to benefits such as discounts or “cash” to buy other products in the same store or company.

· Membership cards. Membership cards must reflect your brand. If you are a high end department store or a country club, the card should be personalized with the client’s name, membership number, type of membership and perhaps a photo. Some will also have barcodes containing the member’s personal information and expiration dates encoded in the barcode.

When making your Business Club Card, consider the following:

1. Quality. Go for high quality plastic if you think it connects well with your brand. Also opt for a good, professional looking design. If you think it will help, you can add images or artwork.

2. Durability. Make sure your Business Club Cards are durable. Usually they are made with plastic which adds flexibility and sturdiness. Plastic cards can also accommodate bar codes, sequential numbering, signature panels and a magnetic strip.

3. Details. Your typeface, color, words, style, structure and other details will play a big role on the impact that a Business Club Card will have on the holder. If your Business Club Card is waterproof and tear proof, it will reflect your brand well. However, a Business Club Card made of plain cardboard will have a different impression, although if you cater to a lower end market, it will be appropriate.

4. Environment friendly. Business Club Cards can be made from recycled materials that are biodegradable, compostable and overall, eco friendly. They can also be recycled.

5. Cost effective. A company or store can easily print Business Club Cards in their own location. They simply order blank stock, and then print the exact number of Business Club Cards they want, in the way that they want the card to be used. An added convenience, the remaining blank card stock can be formatted to suit any new promos, allowing more flexibility.

6. Strengthened marketing. Through these cards the firm has the personal information (name, address, contact info) of each customer. In this way they can profile their customer, (including their zip code area) and send marketing materials to other potential clients that meet this profile of their market, or who live in the same area as most of their customers.

7. Options. To repeat, here’s a short list of Plastic Business Club Card options: Bar coding, UV coating, 12 mil to 30 mil plastic, holographic security, variable data, magnetic stripe cards, variable color imaging and matte or gloss finish.

8. Legal Obligations. Business Club Card printing companies have legal obligations that they must adhere to such as payment of taxes, licenses and non-practice of crimes such as money laundering, smuggling and the like. The regulations exist also to protect the security of cardholders’ information in order to avoid identity theft and/or information theft, among others.

9. Get a trusted printer. You can see that Business Club Cards call for more than just getting a good printer. First, you need to have a printer with a track record of excellence, especially in printing Business Club Cards. Second, you need a professional printer that can advise you on the fine points of your Business Club Card design. Third, you need an excellent printer who is savvy of the legal obligations regarding the printing of Business Club Cards.

Keeping a supply of printed Business Note Cards handy is a wonderful and cost friendly way to market your company. They are less expensive than greeting cards because they are smaller. At the same time they have a generic quality which enables them to serve many uses.

Business Note Cards can be used to say “Thank You”, “Congratulations” or “I appreciate your support,” among others, to clients, potential clients, supporters of your firm, employees and new contacts.

Business Note Cards can also be used as a follow up call regarding a sale, double as a Company Holiday Card, be attached to a corporate gift, or serve as an invitation to an event.

Your Business Note Card will keep your firm in the mind of your target market and create a positive image of you. What’s more, unlike emailed note cards which are often unread, a Business Note Card is tangible and will definitely catch the attention of your target market.

Here are seven tips on how to make good Business Note Cards:

1. Design. Your Business Note Card should match your business card and letterhead, yet retain a generic quality so it can be substituted for many uses.

2. Paper stock. Don’t go cheap on your paper stock. It will put your company in a bad light and will land in the trash bin. Instead, check out the paper stock options that are of good quality, and choose the one that best suits your budget and your marketing purposes. If you plan to use only one or two colors of ink, you may opt for colored card stock to add more hue.

3. Color. Usually Business Note Cards use four colors on the outside and are blank inside. However, you also have the option of including a standard message inside, a logo, and all contact information including your website. If you want to save money and still have high end quality, choose Pantone colors. You may want to use the same color in different shades for variety that is, at the same time, cost friendly.

4. Monograms. Some Business Note Cards are very simple yet classy in design, using one color only for your monogram with a border, or simply your name or initials.

5. Templates. If it serves your marketing purpose, you can go online to look for Business Note Card templates that you can use, or get ideas from. This will cut costs, especially if your company is a startup. However, make sure that your design doesn’t look haphazard or veers from your business letterhead. Your Business Note Cards should reflect your brand.

6. Master copies. Be sure to get master copies of your Business Note Card from your printer. This will save you money the next time you order a new batch of cards.

7. Choose a reputable printer. Where your business is concerned, you want to get a professional printer who has a good reputation for service and who knows the marketing and print industry well. A good printer can advise you on your options regarding all elements of your Business Note Card, based on knowledge and experience.

Whether you are an established businessman or a beginner in setting up a business of your own, one of the first and most important things you will need is a business card.

Business cards should always be kept handy for meetings, events, conferences and the like, because it is customary to pass out your business card by way of introduction. They are great time savers because they help serious businessmen know everything they need to know about you in a nanosecond.

Business cards are the first impression you will give to potential clients. They are personal advertising and marketing cards. Give a lot of thought to the image you want to convey in your business card in terms of your corporate brand, marketing goals and target market.

Here are 11 tips on how to create a better business card.

1. Begin your design with your corporate image in mind. Are you a quality firm that charges high rates because you deliver excellent service to an upscale market? Are you a firm that caters to a middle class market? Are you a charity organization? Knowing your corporate identity and recognizing your target market will have a lot to do with your overall business card design.
2. Choose the card stock that represents you. A very cheap barbershop will use cheap card stock because its target market is people who have a specific income level. An upscale barbershop will use expensive, quality card stock that its market will respect and relate to.
3. Put all the important information in your business card. Don’t forget your logo, a tagline that describes your business, your website and contact information (business address, phone numbers and mobile numbers). If your business has several branches, list them down on the back. Another option is to list down your services.
4. Use color wisely. Whether you use two colors, four or six is not as important as that you use colors that exemplify you and will touch base with your target market. A Chinese restaurant, for example, commonly uses red and white which are their colors of wealth. But the layout should be such that it will make the holder of the card feel hungry. If you serve Chinese fusion, your layout will have to be more unique and modern. This can be done successfully with just two colors because the card stock can already be white. A cheap Chinese restaurant may want to go full color to exemplify the happy madness that characterizes Chinatown.
5. Choose your finish wisely. A glossy UV finish looks expensive and feels great when you touch it, but it might be good to limit it to the front so that you can write on the back. A matte finish is subdued and subtle. It is great with images so if you are in the art business, matte would be perfect.
6. Emboss. It’s more expensive, but if you cater to a high end market, they will respond to it. Just running your fingers over an embossed business card gives you a rich feeling and a tactile connection.
7. Metallic foil. Metallic foils add that extra dash to a business card. There are gold and silver metal foils which are great for wedding planners. Other foil choices – blue, green red, etc. may be suitable for party planners or events managers, among others.
8. Combine special effects. Combine embossing with metallic foil for a truly expensive look. It’s like adding a double dash in expressing who you are. It may be more expensive, but if it is worth the ROI, go for it.
9. Consider using plastic cards. Plastic may sound over the top for a business card. However, it adds durability. Some markets are serious in choosing who they will give their business too. For example, if you are looking for a plastic surgeon, you want to know he is qualified. You won’t be impressed by a fancy layout but you will be if the card states the surgeon’s Board Certification. The durability of the plastic card subconsciously connects with the durability you would want in the quality of plastic surgery that you may be looking for.
10. Choose your fonts well. Selecting fonts is an art in itself. You want your card to be easily legible, but to maximize on your fonts, they should express your business subliminally. Is your business a spa, yoga center or the like? Then you want space not only in your business card layout but in the fonts you choose. Do you want party madness? Spacious fonts won’t work here.
11. Choose a savvy printer with a track record. Choose an experienced printer with a track record for excellence. Your Business Card represents you, and a poor printing job will not represent you well. you want a dependable printer who can advise you along the way and be depended upon to do the job excellently.

There are some businesses that are expected to produce brochures that are out-of-the-box. Examples of these are advertising commercial production companies, graphics and layout companies, photography firms, and any business involved in the arts or in a business with a product or service that involves creativity.

But these days, even established businesses call for out-of-the-box designs. These include car firms, online companies, sport shoe brands and pharmacies. Out-of-the-box thinking is becoming the norm in many new industries.

Here are some tips on how to make Business Brochures that are out of the box.

Play with die cuts. One of the most interesting brochures I received was very large to create impact, and was shaped like a kite. It had fun saffron-orange and white hues, and each corner of the kite opened up to present information and interesting images about the company, an advertising production firm. Other fun ideas: A food magazine’s advertising brochure can be shaped like a plate. Or, a Jeans company can be shaped like the hips portion of jeans, with the brand showing on the back pocket, and an insert (perhaps a coupon) in the pocket. The jeans Business Brochure can be opened up to reveal more information and fabulous graphics and photos. For a toy store, the brochure can be shaped like an origami fortune telling game, which folds out and shows different toys for sale. Oftentimes, the sky’s the limit. But when you are thinking out of the box, you have to reach past the sky.

Play with formats. A baking company can put a brochure inside a tiny box. Along with the brochure inside the box could be a can with a sample cookie. Just make sure that when you send it out, the cookie is fresh and tasty. Another format that I received that created an impression on me was made of cardboard which asked the question, “Would you let your child sleep on this?” The brochure was from Unicef.

Play with colors. Use interesting contrasts such as pink against pale grey, or an orange ombre background with an image of red high cut rubber shoes, as was done with the Converse shoe brochure. A graphic design brochure can have color keys as its background. A burgundy red envelope with the brochure inside can be sealed with a cool grey coupon.

Play with images. But, don’t overdo it. Don’t clutter your brochure with images that can defeat your out-of-the-box concept. Instead, make sure that every image in your Business Brochure serves a definite purpose. Don’t resort to using images as space fillers. Space may be better.

Play with details. Consider the finishes that best work with your design. Will you have a glossy or matte UV coating? Also, think about special effects like embossing and foil stamping. Choose paper stock that helps to convey the impression you want to create on your potential client. Also, determine if your Business Brochure would look better with four, three, two or one color. If you are adding a logo, you will need to add Pantone colors as well.

Don’t play with your printer. If you have a fabulous out-of-the-box brochure concept, choose an experienced printer who understands the nuances of your special requirements like unusual sizes, die cuts and formats. A professional printer will walk you through the process and smooth the path ahead, giving you an excellent quality printout of your Business Brochure.

Printed Business Catalogs have a unique advantage that many other forms of advertising – whether print, online or through video, don’t have. Printed Business Catalogs allow you to showcase your line of products and add important copy to further explain your line, including valuable information and detail that other media are not fit for.

Online Business Catalogs lack the comfort factor that a Printed Business Catalog allows the reader. A Printed Business Catalog can be browsed over many times at a reader’s convenience and by other dwellers and guests in the home.

A Printed Business Catalog focuses on just one business – yours. You have your captive market in your reader. Also, online websites are often lost, and items one may have seen online are hard to find more than once. A Printed Business Catalog will lift your line of products out of the huge mass of choices online which can oftentimes be overwhelming to both businesses and customers.

Here are some tips on how to make a fabulous Business Catalog:

1. Images. A picture paints a thousand words. Okay, that’s not original, but it is true. A photo of a dress you love will be more user friendly to a shopper than a description without the image. Make sure you have high quality photos that are professionally styled and photographed.
2. Copy. Limit your copy to what you think your buyer wants to know about each product. To do this, have a clear idea of your target market, and then imagine from their point of view the information that is of value to them. This is what should comprise your text.
3. Organization. Make your catalog reader friendly. Don’t put together a hodgepodge of photographs of your various items. Arrange them so that the reader can easily look for what they want. For example, if you are doing a fashion catalog, arrange them according to specific categories such as day wear, work wear, formal wear and casual wear.
4. Pagination counts. When you put your catalog together, remember that the objective of the first page is to get the reader interested in seeing the next page. Also, the last page of a section (eg. casual wear) should be designed to make the reader want to go to the succeeding section. Most of all, give thought to the last page of your catalog, because that is the last impression that will be left on the reader’s mind. If it is a positive impression, the reader may go over your catalog a number of times to pick items they like. They may even decide to pass the catalog over to a friend or relative. This potential pass on readership adds to your potential profit margin.
Also, to save on wastage, aim for a number of pages that will utilize all your signatures. In offset printing, one signature is equal to 8 pages, so in your paging, aim for a specific number of signatures whether four, eight, 16 or 32.
5. Get a professional designer and layout artist. Choose someone who has experience in catalogs and/or magazines. Ask to see their work samples so that you can have a selection of options for your graphic designer. A Business Catalog is an important investment. Don’t try to do it by yourself.
6. Branding. Your catalog has to reflect your brand. It has to give an impression of excellence. Don’t go cheap on images, graphics, layout, or paper stock. Give your catalog a rich feel. If it suits your brand, you may choose to have coated paper. If you are an art gallery, uncoated matte may be preferable. All your choices have to reflect your brand so that as soon as a client sees your Business Catalog, they immediately associate it with your company.
7. Colors. Go full color on your Business Catalog and if needed, add Pantone hues. You may want to add your logo colors per page in your layout design for further branding.
8. Call to action. Be sure to include your company logo. Also add information on how the reader can order products in your catalog. You might want to include coupons or add-ons in your catalog as an added incentive for them to go to your store or to place orders through your website. Basic information should include your list of branches if you are a store chain, your addresses and contact nos. per store chain, mobile phone nos (optional) and website.
9. Even online shops make printed catalogs. Online shops know that they live in a virtual world of a plethora of companies offering endless options similar or close to theirs. Online shops augment their marketing campaign by making printed catalogs of their inventory as a way to get readers to look at their website.
10. Get a fabulous printer. Choose an experienced printer with a track record for excellence and lengthy experience. A good printer can walk you through the printing process, smooth the way for you and give you excellent printing quality.

Printed community newsletters can advertise your business, even as it may become a way for you to earn. Revenue can be gained by featuring other businesses within the community that would be willing to pay for a feature article about them. It’s a win-win situation. These companies become known to the neighborhood, generating more business. You get revenue to cover your printing costs.

Sometimes, community newsletters can strike an exchange deal with a printing press — an ad or an article about the printing press, for example, in exchange for free printing, or a good discount on printing costs. Eventually, your community newsletter may be doubly profitable. It puts your business and your website on your target market’s mind regularly, and it generates income beyond the cost of printing.

Printed newsletters have the advantage of standing out, as opposed to email newsletters where oftentimes, people don’t open them. A household will, however, browse through a printed newsletter that is delivered to them for free.

Here are some tips for a successful community newsletter:

1. Know your market. Make sure you know what your market wants to read. Begin by sending out surveys or making phone surveys to your target community and ask what they would like to see in a community newsletter. Based on the survey, make a “mock up” of your newsletter. Gather friends who represent your community and ask for feedback on content and advice on layout.

2. Provide value. Content is the most important part of your newsletter. If it is of no use to your community, it won’t succeed. Give them what they want. They may want recipes, information, or tips on closet design. These can be ways for you to earn. A designer of a boutique could be interviewed for tips on clothing care. It would be a paid ad, but wouldn’t look like one. In a similar manner, a yoga teacher that needs publicity for her studio could offer a “pose of the week” which is a helpful feature and will not look like a regularly paid ad.

3. Don’t make every article an advertisement. You can get good content that meets your community’s interest from sites like NewsUSA, which offers free articles on health, finance, travel, safety and home life. Another source for free articles is The Phantom Writers which has free-to-reprint articles on self improvement, business, and home. Add some fun with crossword puzzles or Sudoku.

4. Photos help. Aside from your personal photos and publicity photos that companies you feature may have, you can also get free photos online

5. Have a consistent look. A newsletter is a brand in itself, and its look has to be consistent yet appealing. Leading publications always have a consistent logo and layout. Readers enjoy the dependability of the publications they regularly read. It is a large component in branding.

6. Check the basic components. A newsletter’s fundamental components to succeed are consistency, image, jumplines, decks and pictures. There are many other components, but these are good for starters, and work fine for community newsletters.

7. Have a dependable distribution method. Will your newsletter be sent out weekly, monthly or bi-monthly? Whatever you decide upon, make sure that they are delivered on the same day. Tuesdays and/or Thursdays tend to be good days for delivery. Also, try to have copies distributed in coffee shops, restaurants, food chains and the like, where people may want to read while eating. This will enable you to claim a pass on readership that will further justify why companies should advertise on your community newsletter.

8. Don’t forget to include your own business info. If the intention of your community newsletter was to advertise your business, perhaps for example, in home construction, be sure to include an article in every issue with tips on home repairs and the like. Include your website, company logo and contact information in the article.

9. Get a good printer with a reputation for excellent service. A community newsletter is not rocket science, but there are things about good printing that comes with experience. Choose a reputable printer with a track record for excellence to maximize on getting a competitive edge with your community newsletter.

Business Signage is fundamental to establishing your company brand. By definition, Business Signage is a display that conveys a clear message to your target audience. It may just be a graphic, or it may be accompanied with words. What matters is that it tells your target market who you are, enhances recognition and elicits a desire for them to buy your product.

One of the most recognizable Business Signages today is the gigantic McDonald’s Golden Arches. You may be driving far off, but if you or your family are hungry and want to eat, the signage leads you to them.

Studies indicate that 55 percent of all sales are impulse purchases. These purchases are often based on your Business Signage. Maximize on that statistic. Make sure that your Business Signage will attract that impulse buying market – and the 45 percent additional as well.

Here are some tips to Maximize on Your Business Signage Design

1. Be visible and readable. Let your sign be seen from far away and if you include text, make sure it’s easy to read. Sans serif fonts work best. Be mindful, too, of the space between the letters. The medium of signage, because it is geared to be seen far off, will call for special requirements including spacing.
2. Simplicity is smart. Your signage should have no more than five words. It is there to create a mood that captures your target market. Keep it simple so the mood is conveyed clearly. Once they are inside your outlet, you can give them all the information that they need to know.
3. Create buzz. Your signage should grab attention. Do you remember the old barbershop striped pole? Men looking for a shave and haircut just walked right in. Coca Cola has retained its signage for years — white distinctive curled lettering against a red background.
4. Make it conspicuous. Choose where you will place your sign. Also, make sure that it is not an environment where your signage will just blend in. It has to stand out, and contrast the surrounding area. Make sure there are no obstructions to your sign’s location.
5. It should be remembered. Everyone knows the Golden Arches always means McDonald’s. That is what branding does. It isn’t just visibility, but constancy. The Chrysler signage uses silver and black. They even built the world famous Chrysler Building in New York in the color of the logo using art deco style. The Chrysler Building is a landmark and Chrysler remains one of the top five cars in America.
6. Colors. Don’t go full color. You want the sign to be readable and memorable. What is important is that your colors contrast for clear legibility.
7. Consistency. Whatever your signage logo is, it should be reflected throughout your office building. You should use the colors of your signage and the design should suit the entire image. For example, the most delicious hamburger in the world is definitely not McDonald’s. But it is a globally recognized brand because what is being sold is American culture as shown in the look and quality of service.
8. Variety is permissible. The same exact signage all the time through the years is boring. It is okay to be true to your brand but feel free to add a little change now and then to keep it interesting. Coca Cola’s signage and colors are consistent, but sometimes they will change the shape of the signage from an oval to a square (with the familiar red background). Sometimes they will add the image of a Coke bottle, or a slogan. But you always know it’s Coke and the subtle changes make you look a second longer than usual and recreate memory.
9. Projection. You want your signage to project a positive image of your company. Even if your Business Signage is just outside your store, your customers are inclined to judge your store more on its signage and outside look than on how it looks inside.
10. Grab that First Read. If your Business Signage has a strong focal point that incorporates all the elements of your brand; and commands attention and attracts your market, then you will have won that First Read. Tip: You will lose the First Read if you have too many colors. Don’t let your text be multicolored – it will compete with your graphic. Black would be better. Also, white space should take up 30 – 40 percent of your Business Signage to optimize on readability.
11. Printer. Don’t go cheap. Choose a printer with experience and a reputation for excellence. That way, you can be confident of the outcome of your Business signage.
